Major Construction Completed!!! Final Blog Post

Work Performed, September 5th to September 8th   
·         Made repairs as identified during final walk-through.

The project is nearly completed and this will be the final blog post for the project. We hope you found the information to be helpful and insightful regarding the current status of the project and upcoming work.

The Village of Glenview will provide resident surveys in the coming weeks for you to complete regarding the construction work and notifications provided. Please take a few moments to complete this survey. The information will allow us to know what aspects of the project we are doing well at and which areas we need to improve upon in the future.

Sod Restoration to Begin in a Few Weeks

·         Asphalt driveway restoration

·         Sod Restoration, to be performed in mid-September when growing conditions are typically more favorable.
·         Final inspection with Village staff prior to project close-out.

Asphalt Paving Completed

Work Performed, August 21st to August 25th    
·         Paved final surface layer of asphalt
·         Performed final testing of water main system

·         Asphalt driveway restoration
·         Minor repairs indentified outside the pavement
·         Final inspection with Village staff prior to project close-out.
·         Sod Restoration, to be performed in mid-September when growing conditions are typically more favorable.

Final Layer of Asphalt Surface Pavement Being Scheduled

Work Performed, August 14th to 18th   
·         Started final testing of water main
·         Made repairs to water main identified during testing
·         Adjust manholes prior to final grade
·         Internally televising underground storm sewers
·         General site clean-up.

Work Anticipated to be Performed, August 21st to August 25th  
·         Complete final testing of water main
·         Pave final layer of asphalt

The contractor will continue to install and grade topsoil; however, sod will not be installed until mid-September when the growing conditions are typically more favorable.

Hopefully a majority of the construction work, with the exception of sod installation, will be completed in the next 1-2 weeks.

Preparing for Asphalt Paving

Work Performed, July 31st to August 11th  
·         Completed final storm repairs within existing system that were identified during televising inspection.
·         Removed existing asphalt pavement surface
·         Pavement widening and patching as required
·         Excavated and installed base for driveway access to 811 / 801 Becker Road
·         Paved first layer of asphalt for driveway access to 811 / 801 Becker Road
·         Prepared for asphalt driveway restorations
·         Reinstalled mailboxes

Work Anticipated to be Performed, August 14th to August 18th .
·         Adjust manholes prior to final paving
·         Perform internal televising of sewers.

The contractor will be working to performing several miscellaneous tasks prior to paving the final layer of asphalt including all final testing of the underground work performed.

The asphalt driveways will be restored following the installation of the surface layer of asphalt.

Hopefully a majority of the construction work, with the exception of sod installation, will be completed in the next 2-3 weeks.

Roadway Improvements to Begin Next Week.

Work Performed, July 24th to July 28th 
·         Installed topsoil and erosion blanket within ditch lines.

Work Anticipated to be Performed, July 31st to August 4th
·         Complete needed storm repairs within existing system that were identified during televising inspection.
·         Remove existing pavement
·         Perform excavation and installation of gravel base in areas of pavement widening

The contractor installed topsoil with a straw erosion control blanket within the ditch lines and in areas where construction previously occurred. No grass seed was installed under the straw blanket. The contractor will lay sod during the September/October timeframe when growing conditions are more favorable. The straw erosion control blanket was installed to prevent the topsoil from eroding away and entering the storm sewer system during rain events.

Storm Sewer Repairs Continue

Work Performed, July 17th to July 21st
·         Installed and graded topsoil in rear yards.
·         Performed clean-up of excess materials in ditch line
·         Extended culverts in area with steep ditch lines
·         Installation of inlets within ditch lines
·         Made spot repairs within existing storm sewer system.

Work Anticipated to be Performed, July 24th to July 28th  
·         Complete needed storm repairs within existing system that were identified during televising inspection.
·         Begin roadway improvements.

There have been several unforeseen delays over the past weeks, including inclement weather and threat for heavy rains.  Please be assured the Village and contractor are committed to completing the work as quickly as possible.
